Study Aids

Below you see a list of study aids. Unless otherwise noted, these are things that I produced myself over time as references and aids to my own study. As with everything else on this site, some are scientific and some are astrological. If they are useful to you, consider them a gift and download them freely.

Astronomy
Planetary Orbit Information

Here is an image made to illustrate the orbits (aphelion and perihelion) of all the planets, including Pluto. It has two scales to illustrate distance and provides a colour band for the orbit of each planet. The colour designated for each planet was taken from pictures of that planet, approximating the mean visible colour. Click here for the original (in GIMP xcf).

Astrology
Zodiac Interpretation Meaning

This is what might be called an astrological interpretation key. It is a single chart that correlates planets, signs, aspects, and numerological integers. The layout lets you see how the rulerships were decided and it shows the primary axis of the zodiac. If you want a chart to show you how each of the planets, signs, aspects, and numbers will relate to each other, this is it. The only disadvantage is that you must be able to read the symbols. That's why the next three study aids are there. Click here for the original.

Zodiac Interpretation Meaning

Here is a cheat sheet for interpreting the meaning of the signs of the zodiac. This sheet, along with the next two, are meant to be printed and laid out on a table when students are practicing interpretation. It won't be long before you won't need to use them anymore. The zodiac cheat sheet provides as much information as one page can muster, but I still feel that only the bare essentials are given here.

Planets Interpretation Meaning

Here is the cheat sheet for interpreting the meaning of the planets. The meanings of some of these bodies can be difficult to find. Along with the other two like it (above and below), this sheet was condensed from a small collection of sources. Again, only the bare essentials are provided.

Houses Interpretation Meaning

Here is the cheat sheet for interpreting the meaning of the houses. Like the two above, it was condensed from several sources and is meant to be printed for student reference while learning the basics. It will provide enough information for a simple interpretation. Understanding of nuance must come from practice over time and using a sheet like this will help you to identify new associations in meaning. When you no longer need it, just pass it off to someone else. It's always nice to have the notes of someone who went before you scribbled around the printed information.

Dignities and Debilities

If you are colour blind, this one will really bug you. This page presents a tiny zodiac for each planet, plus the North and South Lunar Nodes, and marks each with coloured lines that signify home, exaltation, detriment, and fall. Some planets have more than one line for each and the Lunar Nodes have only exaltation and fall. It's a good quick reference. Click here for the original.

Aspect Calculations

Here we have a two-page pdf that lists the distances between planets acceptable for calculating aspects, according to Llewellyn George. The non-standard lines (dependent on the planet) are highlighted in yellow. The negative numbers mean less than the aspect angle (approaching) and positive numbers mean past the aspect angle (separating). Another good quick reference for students. Click here for the original (in OpenOffice.org doc).

Zodiac Chart

This is a representation of the zodiac, including sign symbols and images, sign numbers, sign labels (as cardinal, fixed, or mutable), sign rulers, sign gender, and a colour for each associated element. It also includes a band marking the light and dark halves of the year. This image holds a lot of information and is good for students to review. Click here for the original.

Zodiac Chart

This page presents a zodiac and then marks the exaltation and fall degrees of each planet. The blue bands outside the zodiac are the "home effect" zones where the ruler of each sign would be most "comfortable." The green planets show the exact exalted position and the red ones show the exact fallen position. The red bands inside the zodiac mark the critical degrees and their ranges in a sky that starts 0° Aries. The blue numbers on the outside are the total degrees around the circle and the black numbers are the degrees within a sign. Click here for the original.

Blank Horoscope Chart

This is an old horoscope page that I put together to use long ago. It is only useful for writing by hand, but it is simple, provides plenty of space to write, and is well marked. It provides spaces for longitude, aspects, dignities, and house influences. There is also plenty of room to fill in your house degrees within the circle. Click here for the original.

Physics
How Light Moves

Here is an old and only mostly complete image I constructed to try to sample some of the ways that a light photon can be modelled. It seems that single "particles" of light are made of two components which constantly interact as they travel. Photons are one of the most mysterious systems in nature and effectively are the link between waves and particles. Click here for the original.

How Light Moves

Here is another attempt at modelling light. Personally, I am convinced that the waves which compose a photon operate like miniscule, electrically-driven blackholes that tumble about each other in a constant state of both escaping and falling toward each other. Click here for the original.
